TAYLOR 1825 on title. *With a detailed Abstract of the Days' Works, and a Botanical Appendix [pp.87-198] by Professor [WILLIAM JACKSON] HOOKER. The William Taylor who has signed the title-page could be one of the two such-named crew members of Cook's final voyage. He was still living in 1825, though I have not been able to verify the signature. Lyon's official report provides information on the Inuit peoples of Southampton Island (the island is just north of Hudson Bay), including their engineering techniques for boatbuilding, burial customs, and the report contains an anatomical plate. Lyon's attempt to reach the Northwest passage was ultimately a failure. The corners gently rubbed through, the joints and the gutters are neatly strengthened, a small corner dampspot on a few plates.
