This is essentially a "chronicle of their experiences in the Great War 1914-18 contributed primarily by officers, with a forward by Colonel C.J. Troyte-Bullock D.S.O. who commanded the Battalion from its formation at Woking until severely wounded at Annois during the German advance in March 1918. 156pp.,2 maps, illustrations, honours and awards. A number contributing Officers have signed the page following on from the Foreword, including Col. Andrews crossed the Atlantic in 1892, aboard a 14-foot 6-inch by 5-foot 5-inch canvas-covered folding craft, from Atlantic City in Jersey to Palos, Spain in 63 days. A single-handed trans-Atlantic account which took place during the World's Fair. Its purpose was to promote Sapolio, a soap manufacturer. This copy includes a scarce original NEWSPAPER CARTOON (dated 1932) depicting Capt. William Andrews sailing across the ocean in his 14-foot boat, which is pasted to front pastedown.
