First Edition
First Edition. First U.S. edition, and first illustrated. Scarce softcover issue, headed "The Nast Edition" in original paperwraps. Pullen's satirical take on the Franco-Prussian War, casting European countries as schoolchildren was first published in 1870 in London without illustrations. Old paper-tape at spine fold beginning to loosen revealing the original threads from sewing. Few loose pages, covers tanned, and corners chipped. Exceedingly scarce in the original paperwraps. FIRST WITH NAST ILLUSTRATIONS.
