Troupes appeared not only in the theatres of the cities, but took to the road by stage coach or even on foot and played in the remotest mining towns with showers of gold as their reward. This is the story of the fascinating Lotta who emerged out of this background to become throughout the country the foremost comedy actress and the pioneer in extravaganza and burlesque.
