Purpleish-blue hardback binding which is colour-faded to light purple to front and spine and marks and several abrasions to back boards. Black decoration and gilt-coloured and black lettering to front board and spine. Some wear at spine-ends and boards' corners. Browning of page-edges/margins, light browning and spotting to endpapers o/w pages clean.

In the original dark brown embossed, bevel-edged leather with four rondels to front and rear with images inside and blind stamped surrounding decoration; five raised horizontal bands to spine. The boards are straight and clean; quite tight, with top front board a little loose. Very good minus condition. Spine ends and corners are worn; tiny tear to leather from top end of spine. The pale yellow end papers are marked; the front free end paper is missing. Shiny gilt cut edges. The text block is very firm and flat; some pages have marks, the Prelims and end pages are quite foxed; light foxing to very light foxing throughout - not tanned.
