All the stories have illustrations but they are uncredited - two have the signatures Murphy and Parkhurst, however. There is chipping to the edges of the covers with this quite heavy on the back cover which has ragged tearing around the edges with about half an inch missing along the bottom and left sides. Pages 19 and 21 each have two quite heavy creases to the bottom corners and the pages are browned with some spotting in places and some edge tears to the last few pages. Eight single-sided leaves (16 pages) of plates featuring fifteen plates but numbered as Frontispiece (single illustration) followed by Plates III-XVI (printed two per page); Plates 1 and II not present although there is no indication of a missing leaf. Front and rear hinges are splitting but binder apparently used an adhesive between the spine cloth and quire's backstrip so that binding remains fairly firm. Browning and foxing on preliminary and terminal leaves; mostly moderate foxing upon interior leaves. Missing at least a front free endpaper, front flyleaf, and a rear flyleaf. Initial two leaves present are the frontispiece and title/copyright pages and both are loose and now laid-in. Frontis features two illustrations denoted as Plates III and IV; Plates I and II are not present. All other illustrations (also printed two per page) inclusive to Plate XVI are present.
