Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book pieces together the evolutionary story of one of the most complex and fundamental features of the human body â" our shoulder girdle. From the earliest known amphibians to the first humans, the author traces the evolution of this part of our anatomy through hundreds of millions of years, shedding light on the evolution of the human form and the adaptations necessary for us to walk upright. The author shows how this intricate structure allowed prehistoric animals to move from water to land, and how it enabled the development of more complex forelimbs capable of actions such as grasping. Their meticulous research and accessible writing make this an invaluable resource for anyone interested in evolutionary biology, comparative anatomy, or human origins.
