Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First edition hardcover, sewn-bound in brown leather veneer with black and brown leather veneer on spine with gilt lettering, is in Fair condition, having the spine veneer attached only on one side of the volume, and cover almost detached; the leather veneer shows on its surface quite a bit of wear: veneer torn off in places from the cardboard sub-structure, abrasions, scratches (see our photos). Wonderfully illustrated with steel and wood engravings; many fine steel engraved portraits: George Washington, James Oglethorpe, James Otis, and Thomas Jefferson. This is the third volume in Bryant and Gay's history, covering American history from New York under the English to an alliance with France. The American Revolutionary War. History.
