Early work from the Press, scarce. The eighteenth-century satirical poem has been translated numerous times; Frank O'Connor's translation a decade earlier had been banned - Seamus Heaney was among the later poets to attempt it. David Marcus, the translator here, was an Irish-Jewish writer who made a major contribution to the country's literature across more than six decades - here early in his career, though having already founded the journals 'Irish Writing' and 'Poetry Ireland'.
