It was followed by supplementary volumes by Brooke, John Rider and John Clarke through 1808. The present copy probably belonged to the English politician and bibliophile Sir John Ingilby [1758-1815] of Ripley Castle, Yorkshire, who was created a Baronet in 1781. He was High Sheriff of Yorkshire from 1781-1782, a Member of the Parliament (for East Retford) from 1790-1796 and a Fellow of the Royal Society (elected 1793). The annotation to the rear free endpaper is a reference to Samuel Pegge's Curialia: Or an Historical Account of Some Branches of the Royal Household. &c. (1st ed. 1782).
