There are a few pages with diary entries of a rather mundane nature and the bulk of the rest of the writing relates to quotes from various authors and eminent persons i.e. Hobbes, Kingsley, Ruskin, Lamb, Dickens, Victor Hugo, Scott, Goethe, Beaconsfield, Wilde, Kingsley etc. etc.In addition there are a few other mss. notes. About 68pp. in total are in legible hand. A few in pencil, most in pen. The rest of the book is blank.Entries are intermittent from 1976-1901. The front cover is initialed in gilt L. J. B. There is a brass hasp attached to brass overlay on both cover edges. The hasp has a lock, but no key. All page edges marbled.Covers worn, scuffed and corners and spine ends bumped & rubbed.
