Each volume with seven or eight portraits of notable characters, including a frontispiece, plus a folding facsimile of Pepy…s' handwriting, a folding plate of the Great Fire, and a folding pedigree of the Pepys family. Contemporary burgundy half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spines, and marbled paper over boards. All edges and endpapers marbled. Bookplate of John Clarke Hawkshaw to front pastedown of each volume, and some spotting to first and final few leaves, otherwise internally clean. Moderate general wear to bindings; spines slightly toned. Very good.
