Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. The poems appear side by side on the page in French and English. In the Introduction, the translator summarises his approach as trying to capture the spirit of the original poem, to preserve the rhythm of the metre, to achieve a reasonably accurate translation and to 'produce something that reads like a poem in its own right.' Pea green dust jacket with black and red titles is intact but has edgewear, a few closed tears; plus some tanning and spotting. Carmine red cloth boards with gilt (silver) titles at the head and foot of the book's spine. Tight binding. Top and fore edges spotted. Internally, mild tanning with occasional spotting. Seller's sticker (Foyles) on front pastedown. pp. 87/8vo. Please note that, depending on destination, we may request an additional payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges. Proceeds to Amnesty International. Abe2344.
