Doch außer der ikonographischen Einordnung schildert der Autor die technische Herstellung, die damalige Wohnatmosphäre und die Zeitumstände der "Wilhelminischen Ära". Die Porzellanfiguren, die um 1860 bis 1920 hergestellt wurden und daher die Stilmerkmale des Historismus und Jugendstils aufweisen, sind größtenteils in Deutschland entstanden. Darüber hinaus werden in diesem Buch die wichtigsten Manufakturen in Österreich-Ungarn, England und Rußland berücksichtigt.
