Peter Bowman (1957 in Leeds geboren) gehört zu den berühmten englischen Kinderbuchillustratoren nach dem Kriege. Ab 1984 begann er Kinderbücher zu illustrieren. "Seine atemberaubenden detaillierten Illustrationen entstehen in seinem bevorzugten Medium Aquarell und Bleistift. Seine frühen Arbeiten, wie hier, wurden u.a. von Dali, Baily, Greenaway und Rackham beeinflusst". - Die Henne legt ein ungeheuer großes Ei, das Hase, Eichhörnchen, Ente, Hund und Katze zusammen für eine Ausstellung zum Frühlingsfest schmücken.
