First edition of this very uncommon salesman sample catalogue filled with over 300 bookbinding cloths manufactured and distributed by Interlaken Mills in the Mid-20th-Century. Along with their specially developed coated mylar film sheets which appear as titles in this catalogue, also offered are their Dyed Vellum Series 8000, 8100, 8300 & 8400, Linen Vellum 8000, 8100, 8300 & 8400, book cloths broadly used by U.S. and U.K. publishers in the period. Originally founded in 1883, they were purchased by Winterbottom Mills in 1892, and became well-known for their starch-filled, impregnated book cloths. They also maintained an entire colour and chemistry division, which after merging with Arkwright Finishing Co. in 1959, slowly shifted to film coating, and ceased producing book cloth in 1983.
