Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. Philadelphia: John D. Wattles & Company, 1898. First edition, 1898. By a Connecticut author. Guidance for Sunday School teachers, the title suggested by the highway guide-boards, or signs, placed along the sides of roads providing useful information to the traveller. Blue-gray textured cloth printed in dark blue, gilt top, other edges uncut, 120 pages. Inscribed by the author to M. S. Buckland on the front free endpaper, dated January 8, 1898. The book looks and feels nearly new, and is mainly unopened (the other edges of pages not separated, strongly suggesting that the book was never read). There is a quarter inch round dark spot in the lower margins of a few pages at the front, not affecting text. Sections include: At the Cross-Roads; Relying on Past Usefulness; Too Much Guidance; Need of Close Range; Being in Place; Dependend upon Props; Side Issues; Imitation Guides; Suggestive Pointing; Agreement Among Guides; Making and Placing Guides; Where Guides are Needed. A very clean copy. Inscribed by The Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
