Add to basketHardcovers. First Edition. Quartos, one pumpkin cloth the other mint-green. Housed in Orange slipcase with black leaf patterns to edges. Gorgeous collection of 206 duotone photographs, carefully selected "from the Kinsey's 4500 extant negatives by photographers Rodolfo Petschek and Dave Bohn is complemented by personal documents, newspaper accounts, and interviews with friends and family members. The story that emerges is that of a family business -- a husband consumed with the art and trade of photography, and a wife determined to support his hard work with her own contributions of fifty years in the darkroom" . Books are fine. Some shelf-rubbing and light spotting to slipcase only. 0912020350 and 0912020350369 Darius and Tabitha Kinsey spent most of a lifetime in photography. The surviving negatives - on glass plates and film -- number some 4,500 in eleven formats. These two initial volumes deal with the evolution of Darius' photography, with attention to the elements surrounding that evolution. For example -- he was making a living, and without Tabitha in the darkroom he could not have managed the amount of work he did. And becauyse of Tabitha's ever-in creasing skill at development by inspection, the great vision came through undamaged. ".The work is divided into sections which reflect dividions strongly represented throughout the Collection; the work is arranged essentially chronolocially and Volume One terminates at the end of 1906, when the Kinseys moved from Sedro-Woolley to Seattle; the photographs in Volume One are printed from glass negatives, and are reproduced (peripheral material also) same size; photographs in Volume Two are reduced from 11 x 14" film negatives, and exceptions in either volume are noted with the item, as are specific acknowledgements. ("The Contents" page). Near Fine in Very Good Slipcase.
