No Jacket. 2nd Ed., 1st-1936. maps across end-paper & pastedowns (Central Pacific to front, Queensland region to back)+f/piece+xvi+264, 51 further photos on 32 pp.of plates ex-pagination; internally clean, tight and unmarked but slight cocking and dark cloth covers feel a little shaken, though gutters good; covers clean but 2.5 cm. split top back joint and trace of rubbing bottom spine, otherwise unworn. Much on islands around Queensland and Gulf of Carpentaria though also ventures to Nauru and other central Pacific islands. Basic aim of the travels seems to have been locating phosphate deposits. Nevertheless does include some anecdotal cultural anthropology and natural history.
