It was the only course designed byArthur Croome and is regarded as one of the outstanding inland heathland courses in Britain. This lavishly illustrated book follows the development of the club, the course and its members, from the days when the 'outdoor staff' including the Professional and Head Greenkeeper were not allowed in the clubhouse and when the celebrity golfers were mainly amateurs, to today's world of golf where courses are intensively played and battered with trollies and buggies, where club staff are highly qualified and work very long hours and yet where Liphook, as peter Alliss says in his preface, retains " mor than a touch of the Ancient and Modern" Ref XX 3.
