Z : 182 Seiten, 30 x 30 cm, reich illustriert, Kunstledereinband mit Schutzumschlag - Prägend ist seine Begegnung mit Paul Klee 1919, als beide Künstler im Werneck-Schloss in München ein Atelier haben. Im Vergleich zu Klees Arbeiten sind Reichels weniger von akademisch durchdachten Experimenten geprägt; alles Sachliche, Berechnende, Ironisierende und Karikierende ist ihm fremd. Auch als Klee ans Bauhaus geht, bleibt der Kontakt zwischen den Künstlern bestehen. Bei Besuchen in Dessau begegnet Reichel Kandinsky, Gropius und Feininger. 1929 geht Reichel nach Paris, wo er sich mit dem Fotografen Brassaï anfreundet. 1936 beginnt eine lebenslange Verbindung zu Henry Miller, den Reichel zeitweise in der Aquarellmalerei unterrichtet. Ab 1939 ist Hans Reichel in verschiedenen Lagern interniert, bis ihm 1944 die Flucht gelingt und er nach Paris zurückkehren kann. Nach dem Ende des Krieges entwickelt er seine Kunst konsequent weiter; jegliche Art von Konstruktion bleibt ihm fremd, Improvisation sowie der Ausdruck von Empfindungen auszudrücken ist ihm Zeit seines Lebens ein wesentliches Anliegen für seine Arbeit. Am 7. Dezember 1958 stirbt Hans Reichel in Paris.
