Hardcover. RC, book has fraying of spine and corners of cover, some rubbing of edges of cover, foxing of cover, foxing of pages, name of former owner on front endpaper.

Pages: clean, bright, tight, portrait frontis w/ tissue guard; a.e. tanned, t.e. dusty, foxing, hinges cracked but intact, PO name inked ffep, some pp have a bit of smudging. Cover: brown silk, black ornamentation/titles front, gilt titles spine, device blindstamped back; substantial shelfwear, extrems well worn, rubbed, front crnrs bumped. Published posthumously, the memoirs of a world-traveling missionary.

The posthumously published account of a 19th century missionary tasked to visit and do work in Asia, especially to India, China, the Middle East, and nearby areas, but who also travelled to various other parts of the globe, recounting his very interesting experiences and observations about the peoples, societies, customs, etc. that he encountered. Provides a fascinating picture of the world and times of well over a century ago. Hardcover, 606pp., binding is mostly firm and pagination mostly clear, boards show signs of bumping, fraying, and other misc. effects of aging. Overall book is in remarkable shape considering its over 120 years of age. An extremely rare collectible. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Former Owner Stamp & Signature. Book.

The binding is a little loose, and the inside pages contain light soiling along the edges. Inside tissue end paper torn out. Front and back cover has white spots on it and is worn along the edges and corners. No dust jacket.
