Various conditions, each with some wear and toning, marginal defects and a few light brown spots. From the famous travelogue book Marocco written by the renowned Italian author Edmondo de Amicis, first published in an illustrated edition in 1879. In 1875, De Amicis joined an official Italian diplomatic delegation to the Sultan of Morocco. He hired Cesare Biseo and fellow painter Stefano Ussi to visually document their journey.…

Pittore romano con origine bresciane, Biseo nacque nel 1844 e fu istruito dal padre. Datosi alla pittura decorativa, appena ventenne venne invitato dal vicerè d'Egitto a recarsi in Alessandria, per decorare gli ambienti del palazzo vicereale: ammaliato dall'Oriente, vi ritornò più volte anche in compagnia di Stefano Ussi e di Edmondo De Amicis. L'autore venne chiamato dal vicerè d'Egitto per decorare il suo palazzo ad Alessandria. In basso a sinistra incisi: C. Biseo F in Roma 1872. All'acquaforte pura senza gli interventi a monotipo. Un esemplare è conservato presso la Raccolta Davoli di Reggio Emilia. Ottima impressione su carta pesante con fondino di carta cina applicato. Buoni margini. Ottimo stato di conservazione.
