Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. THROUGH THE CLOUD MOUNTAIN FLORENCE SCOTT BERNARD ILLUSTRATED GERTRUDE KAY 1922. Here for your consideration is another of those lovely, illustrated children s books that were published in the early Twentieth Century. Please find: Through the Cloud Mountain, by Florence Scott Bernard, with illustrations by Gertrude Kay. This large hard cover book (7 ¼ x 9 ¾ inches, 215 pages) was published by the J.B. Lippincott Company of Philadelphia & London, dated 1922 and a First Edition with the same date on title and copyright pages. The book is bound in maroon cloth gilt framing and titles on the cover and a paste-down color plate and with gilt titles on the spine. This book has a lovely color frontispiece and 7 other color plates by the Artist, all on glossy paper, blank on the reverse. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are perhaps a bit dust-dulled and the spine darkened but still legible. The gilt decorations and paste-down are bright and unblemished. There has been some minor bumping to the corners and spine tips but nothing extreme. Inside, a former owner has left his neat bookplate on the front endpaper. The pages and plates are unusually clean and bright for books of this vintage although I did notice that many of the plates including the frontispiece have some significant foxing to the glossy page surface (please see the photos while noting that the digital camera eye is more critical than the human eye). There is a small tear near the base of the title page, not affecting the information thereon. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
