It has become one of a series of stimulating, unconventional, deeply thoughtful and radical new looks at what makes up the theatre and the theatre experience which began with The Playwright as Thinker, continued through In Search of Theatre, and expressed itself in a series of memorable anthologies such as the volumes of The Modem Theatre and The Classic Theatre.
