"The Dewey Roundup was a rodeo that was held annually in Dewey, Oklahoma on the week of July 4th. It was one of the most popular rodeo events, along with the Calgary Stampede. In 1949, the Dewey Roundup was the third largest rodeo in the world. The Dewey Roundup began in 1908. Dewey was founded in 1899 by Jacob H. Bartles and named after Spanish-American War hero Adm.
