Cet ouvrage s'intéresse à l'étude de l'adaptation de différents génotypes d'orge - anciens et modernes, à deux ou six rangs - face aux contraintes climatiques caractéristiques de la région de Sétif. Il analyse, dans une approche intégrative, les principaux déterminants de la tolérance aux stress abiotiques, en mettant l'accent sur les caractères phénologiques, morphologiques et physiologiques liés à la résilience et à l'efficience d'utilisation des ressources hydriques. Une attention particulière est accordée au rôle des traits associés à l'élaboration du rendement, à l'indice de récolte, au maintien de la surface foliaire verte, ainsi qu'aux innovations récentes telles que l'analyse numérique de la végétation, utilisées pour mieux comprendre les stratégies d'adaptation des plantes. Au-delà de l'évaluation des génotypes, cet ouvrage vise à offrir un cadre scientifique pour orienter la sélection variétale vers des orges plus performantes, stables et adaptées aux environnements arides et semi-arides du Nord de l'Afrique.
