Soft cover. Condition: Fair. Reasonable clean copy on the whole with a little edge wear to the card covers and page edges toned. Much of the title lettering on the front cover has scarped away having been stuck to something and peeled off. Which is a shame for an otherwise VG copy. Tanning along spine. Smith first comes to notice about 1851 with plans to build the European and North American Railway with its terminus in his home town, Shediac. He opposed Confederation at first, but eventually became a strong supporter. He is credited with giving New Brunswick responsible government and the secret ballot. He died at 61, leaving at attractive widow 25 years younger. The rest of the book deals with her travels, her writing, and her mental instability. Scarce. 123 pp. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
