Volume two is illustrated with six folding plates to the rear and many in-text images. Collated complete. A comprehensive dictionary of general knowledge and information, containing entries on the topics of Geography, History, Biography, Mythology, Bible Knowledge and Chronology. Complete in two volumes, with a 'table of chronology' to the rear of volume II. Edited by Samuel Orchart Beeton, an English publisher, best known as the husband of Mrs Beeton (Isabella Mary Mayson) and publisher of Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management. He founded and published the Boy's Own Magazine considered by many as the first and most influential of boys' magazines. Dated from the National Library of Wales. Bound in half brown calf with cloth boards. Externally, smart with rubbing and light wear to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Rear hinge starting but firm to volume one. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting. Very Good. book.
