Ho…stetter (18921962) was a prominent Chicago business leader and an outspoken crusader against labor racketeering during the early-to-mid 20th century. He served as the president and executive director of the Employers Association of Chicago for nearly two decades. In 1933, he was one of the first to publicly state that Murray "The Camel" Humphreys had succeeded Al Capone as the leader of the Chicago Outfit. This book serves as a report on the "criminal army" of racketeers.

Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $2.50), edgeworn, gently spine-sunned, with a touch of dust-soil to rear panel, and biopredation to extremities and rear panel; separation to rear flap has been neatly mended by a previous owner on verso; Very Good. Detailed Depression-era exposé by two Chicago authors on racketeering and mob activity. "Here in this present year of grace not only in "wicked Chicago" but in at least fifteen other major American cities, flourishes a system of blackmail, graft, extortion, terrorism and plunder of business men and employers and of course the public that cost Chicago alone $136,000,000 in 1928 and cost the United States at large a total (including other forms of crime) of 11 Billions!"
