James Oliver Curwood (1878 - 1927) was an American action-adventure writer a…nd conservationist. His books were often based on adventures set in the Yukon or Alaska and ranked among the top-ten best sellers in the United States in the early 1920s, according to Publishers Weekly. At least eighteen motion pictures have been based on or directly inspired by his novels and short stories; one was produced in three versions from 1919 to 1953. Book condition: Cover is quite clean, kept so by the dj; book edges have darkened a bit, they are light tan; internally, part of the page margins throughout are a paler tan by about half; owner's name and date, in ink, are on the front fly; book's front cover is "canted" a bit, projecting circa 1/8 inch past the vertical, compared to the rear cover; the dj has considerable wear and tear, but is missing only circa 0.25 Sq. in., most of this at the dj spine top; white linear wear occurs at the folds, about 7 or 8 inches, or roughly 25% of the four fold lengths ( original surfaces' wear results in a white line) ; the front dj panel has 2 one-inch edge ears, and there are an additional circa 12-- 1/4 inch edge tears distributed on both panels.
