No jacket, bound in green cloth, which has moderate soiling and spotting; a frayed crown and foot of spine cloth. Interior is clean, no markings. A classic early edition of a nineteenth-…century Time Travel/Utopian novel, which 'influenced the formation of the Nationalist political movement and several Utopian living experiments during the 1890's'. Spine is sunned/darkened. Statement of 'Memorial Edition' on spine and on half-title page. Frontispiece of author has original tissue guard in place. A small lovely copperplate name on front free end-paper (at top corner). Copyright page notes 'Four Hundred and Twentieth Thousand' printing, with 1898 being the last date. Three pages have short closed tears at foredges, one being tape repaired. Does not detract. 337 pages. Protected in a mylar slip.
