Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This scarce 1965 first edition is a privately printed or small press poetry collection published by Detroit's Harlo Press. It may appeal to collectors of Michigan literature, Detroit publishing history, small press poetry, and vintage literary works.… Although little information is available about Barrie, some of his poems may have appeared earlier in the Labor Journal in Cheyenne, Wyoming, several years before he graduated from Detroit College of Law. His poetry touches on themes of philosophy, reflection, purpose, humor, whiskey, and old age. A particularly distinctive feature of this book is its publication by Harlo Press of Detroit, Michigan. Harlo Press was a notable independent publishing and printing house, best known for its self publishing services and collaborative printing work. The book condition is good to very good (G/VG). The dust jacket is in good (G) condition, showing normal age related wear with a couple of very small tears at the top, bottom, and corner edge. The blue cover boards and binding are in very good (VG) condition; the inside cover boards do little discoloration consistent with normal aging. All 79 pages are in very good (VG) condition with no markings; pages are clean and crisp.
