CONDITION: FINE, binding square and tight, pages bright and unmarked, no names or marks of any kind; faint age-toning to page edges, no tears or chips or other defects. CONTENT: A scarce work based on William Beutenmuller's partially completed monograph of the N. A. species of the genus Catocala (Noctuidae). Barnes and McCunnough wrote brief descriptions to accompany the color illustrations of the103 species treated by Beutenmuller (assigning two of these to different genera). Larvae of many species are illustrated in full or part (on 7 color plates) drawn from life made by Mrs. Beutenmuller and the artist Fred Prince (Illinois State's Entomologist Office).
