Covers are very clean and intact except for moderate age toning, a small crease in lower-left corner on back, crease along front outer joint, and moderate chipping along spine. A Very Good copy. A collection of extracts by different authors who each make the case in support of public worship. This pamphlet was published following the rejection of a "public tax in favor of religious Ministers" by the Convention of Maine. In the Preface, an unnamed author discloses their hope that the movement forwarding Christianity and public worship will spread to nearby states from Maine. The authors of the extracts include Anna Barbauld (1743-1825), Joseph Fawcett (c. 1758-1804), Archdeacon Payley (William Paley; 1743-1805), Jacques Necker (1732-1804), the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, and Thomas Belsham (1750-1829).

The Invitation. Edwyn and Eltruda', with charming poems, prayers, and anecdotes.The fourth is a posthumously published circa 1804 'Select Pieces' by Benjamin Franklin, including a selection of the American Founding Father's essays, including 'Morals of Chess' and 'A New Mode of Bathing'.The fifth volume present is an 1801 edition of the poems of John Armstrong, including a short memoir of the life of the author.The sixth work is an 1800 collection of odes from poets including George Dyer, M. Robinson, J. Ogilvie, A. L. Barbauld and others. The seventh is an 1801 edition of 'Letters from Yorick & Eliza', the collection of ten letters Laurence Sterne wrote to Eliza Draper, with whom he fell in love.The final work is an 1804 'New Edition' of E.
