This copy with a Typed Note Signed from Barbara Wersba to her editor Charlotte Zolotow: "Dear Charlotte, Herewith my life - on page 293 - and to whom should I send the first copy but you? Love Barbara." Zolotow was an editor and publisher at Harper's celebrated children's books department, as well as acclaimed author of over 65 children's books. She is credited for her contributions to the Children's Liberation Movement which believed the rights and emotional concerns of children be recognized and treated as the equal of adults.
