There Vicky meets other children but also Chela who looked after the monkey temple and the monkeys. A good look at the pampered lives of the British in India at the turn of the century. Some light soiling to the boards, and a touch of wear to the spine ends and corner tips. Some light, very occasional and mostly marginal spotting. A very good copy of an uncommon and delightful production, printed by Christopher Sandford, moonlighting from the Golden Cockerel Press, and wonderfully enhanced by his wife's engravings. The author's first book, a re-telling of six Himalayan folk tales, three of which are reproduced, along with the illustrations, from an original appearance in the 'Illustrated London News'.
