Collated, complete.These volumes collect seventy essays originally published in The London Magazine from November 1777 to August 1783, in which Boswell used "The Hypochondriack" persona to write on themes ranging from personal reflection to social commentary. This is the first time these essays were gathered and reprinted in book form.James Boswell (17401795) was a Scottish lawyer, diarist, and author best known for his monumental biography The Life of Samuel Johnson (1791), often considered the greatest biography in English literature. In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, very smart. The odd slight handling mark to boards. Spines slightly faded. slight rubbing to extremities and boards. Slipcase, smart. Boards and extremities rubbed, resulting in slight loss to paper. Internally, firmly bound, with the exception of the frontispiece to volume II, which is fully disbound, but present.
