Snugly bound in original pebbled burgundy cloth with decorative borders to panels and rules to spine in blind. Title lettering brightly in gilt to cover and spine. Trace fading to cloth at spine; front coated endpage missing. Front and bott…om edge of the text block with an old but not period gilt/bronzing. Illustrated with lithograph frontis portrait, lacking tissue guard. Light offset toning from the frontis to the title page. Text tightly bound and very fresh. 2 pages of Townsend ads at rear. Important biography of this Moravian missionary to the Ohio area Native Americans. In much better condition than usually seen. Howes R429. VG.
