Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 5th or later Edition. A late 18th century Edinburgh periodical, The Lounger (1785-1787) was a literary and moral weekly published by the authors of The Mirror, a prominent group of Scottish Enlightenment writers associated with Henry Mackenzie. Like its predecessor, it combined essays on manners, literature, and social commentary with the genteel moral tone popular in late-Georgian periodical culture. This fifth edition of 1794, printed in both London and Edinburgh, is attractively bound in full contemporary speckled calf with gilt-tooled spines and contrasting morocco labels. The Lounger.
