Condition: Good. 4th impression. Cloth, G+/ 298pp+6pp publishers adverts, front endpaper removed, Ex Libris Stanley Seuffert with his ink stamp to the half title, paper a little tanned, cloth rubbed at the corners with a little loss, upper panel stamped in red ink with the title & snake entwined apple tree, a nice copy of a scarce book. A romance story by Wilfred Keppel Honnywill [ 1871 - 1909 ] which is also ( incorrectly ) attributed to Herbert Vivian. Honeywill's insistence at publishing his two novels anonymously led to speculation as to their authorship almost immediately after publication. The Cambridge Daily News in 1901 noted : 'The authorship of "The Master Sinner" - the novel written by way of a satire on the works of Mr Hall Caine and of Miss Marie Corelli - is now attributed to Mr. Herbert Vivian'. The Curse of Eden was as popular as Honeywill's first book, and was well recived by the press - 'Taken as a whole, "The Curse of Eden" is a splendidly-constructed story, and readers will have a tender feeling towards Dr Jones' [Dundee Courier]. Honeywill commited suicide by jumping from the Farringdon Road bridge in London. 500 grams.
