Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a self-published work on theology and racial identity from the perspective of a Black Ethiopian-American and explores the significance of the Black Spot in the Sun, which was observed and reported by the US Naval Observatory during World War 1. The author analyzes the astronomical and religious significance of the Black Spot in the Sun as a universal sign of God's distress with the nations of the world. The author goes on to discuss themes of historical oppression, the denial of Blackness, and the broader impact on the identity and historical memory of the African diaspora and communities of African descent. The book interprets this astronomical phenomenon as a divine indictment targeting 'wicked nations', particularly those nations that have oppressed and denied the indigenous rights of globally dispersed and historically oppressed African people. The author examines these themes through the lens of their deep-held belief, and their writing style blends traditional Christian theology, the Book of Enoch, with Afro-Centrist readings of Biblical texts, and historical events offering a perspective not commonly found outside of Afro-Centrist literature. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Between October 1896 and June 1897, members of the Blackburn Commission travelled some 4,300 miles through the interior of south and central China. They collected detailed information on all factors relating to how the Chinese met "their own wants in the matter of textiles", including material on marketing, distribution, indigenous handicraft production, taxation and "local customs and usage as they might affect [the United Kingdom's] textile industry". The Commission also investigated in detail remote or less known parts of the country, and provided an account of means of communication by land and water. The report was published in two lengthy sections by The North-East Lancashire Press Company in Blackburn, a very rare imprint. The first part was compiled by Bourne; the second by H. Neville and H. Bell. See further: "Commerce and Capitalism in Chinese Societies", Gary G. Hamilton (London, Routledge, 2006). Bourne published also, among others, "The Lo-Fou mountains: An excursion" (Hongkong, 1895); and "Trade of central and southern China" (Shanghai, 1898). TIMO-5 OUT.
