He became a printer and probably worked in Florida and Alabama before moving to Texas in the 1830s. He married twice, and lived in La Grange, Texas and in Austin, Texas. Descendants and relatives lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, California and elsewhere. Also includes early chapters about the McClellan and Brownlow family in Abingdon and elsewhere in Virginia, and some family history and genealogical data about the McClellan family in Ireland and Scotland.
