This edition is notable for the excellent illustrations on fine paper. Publisher states this is limited to 2000 copies but there were no copies with limitation pages. This is best viewed as history or historical fiction not straight up primary source material. Of course there is an argument about this so feel free to disagree. Cloth, dj, VG/VG. vi+250pp, colour frontis, 9 b/w illustrations, SIGNED by the author ( using the pseudonym & his real name wich reads 'To Miss Eileen McGuinness with the very best wishes of the author 11-2-1953' ). Spine of the dustjacket a little sunned & worn with a little loss along the edges, cloth a little rubbed a nice copy. A Cumberland set story about an Alsatian who is mistaken for a dog who is up on the moors killing sheep & the efforts of two children to save their new canine friend. Their solution to take the dog to a remote island on a lake in the fells. The author wrote several books with a canine hero, and himself owned a German Shepard. 400 grams.
