Original 1943 country-music songbook issued by Acuff-Rose Publications (2403 Kirkman Ave., Nashville, Tenn.), featuring 20 complete songs with words, piano arrangements, chord symbols, and guitar diagrams. Copyright page dated 1943 with 'International Copyright Secured' and 'All Rights Reserved.' The foreword is written by A.E. (Art) Satherley, recording manager for Okeh and Columbia Records, providing contemporary biographical context for Bob Atcher (1914-2002), Kentucky-born singer, guitarist, and Grand Ole Opry performer. Songs include 'I Want to Be Wanted,' 'Sorrow on My Mind,' 'Pins and Needles (In My Heart),' 'I'll Never See Sunshine Again,' and others by Fred Rose, Floyd Jenkins, Ray Whitley, Roy Acuff, and additional early Nashville writers. Illustrated with multiple black-and-white photographic plates, including Bob Atcher, Bonnie Blue Eyes (Loeta Applegate), and The Frontiersmen. A well-preserved copy in Very Good+ condition. Covers bright with strong green color and clear portrait image; light edge wear and small areas of surface rubbing, including minor surface abrasion from an old label on front cover. Staples secure; binding firm. Interior clean with light age toning, no writing noted, and music pages fully legible. A particularly attractive example of a fragile wartime country-music booklet seldom found in this condition. First edition, first printing (no later printings indicated; 1943 copyright date present). Original publisher's wrappers, price printed "50˘" on cover. Acuff-Rose imprint consistent with early Nashville country publishing history during the formative Grand Ole Opry era. Bob Atcher was a Kentucky-born country singer, guitarist, and radio personality who became associated with WSM's Grand Ole Opry and early Nashville recording culture. He recorded for Okeh and Columbia Records and frequently performed with his wife, Loeta Applegate ('Bonnie Blue Eyes'). Atcher's repertoire blended Appalachian, western, and plains traditions, reflecting his upbringing and early travels. He remains a representative figure of pre- and wartime country music publishing history.
