The two smaller discs, one on each side, is approximately 8 inches in diameter. The back side has sections from 1903 through 1933 (noting that there was no Series in 1904). For each section there are cut outs for the N.L. and A. L. Teams, Winner, and Manager; Highlights. Pitching Leaders with wins and losses, and N.L. and A.L batting Leaders and Home Runs and Percentage. The front side [based on more information on "Your Chrysler-Plymouth Dealer, has sections for the years 1934 through 1963. One side also has a list of the Top Ten World Series Thrills. The other side has a list of Outstanding World Series Records. There is a small copyright notice for Ernie Harwell. William Earnest Harwell (January 25, 1918 - May 4, 2010) was an American sportscaster, known for his long career calling play-by-play of Major League Baseball games. For 55 seasons, 42 of them with the Detroit Tigers, Harwell called the action on radio and/or television. In January 2009, the American Sportscasters Association ranked Harwell 16th on its list of Top 50 Sportscasters of All Time. Harwell's broadcast for the Giants of the third and final game of the 1951 National League tie-breaker series against the Dodgers, which ended with the pennant-clinching "Shot Heard 'Round the World" home run by the Giants' Bobby Thompson, was carried nationally on NBC. Harwell helped broadcast two All-Star Games (1958, 1961) and two World Series (1963, 1968) for NBC. He called the 1984 World Series locally. The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada, contested since 1903 between the champion teams of the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). The winner of the World Series championship is determined through a best-of-seven playoff, and the winning team is awarded the Commissioner's Trophy. Prior to the AL and NL being split into divisions in 1969, the team with the best regular-season win-loss record in each league automatically clinched its league's pennant and advanced to the World Series, barring the rare tie necessitating a pennant playoff. Since then each league has conducted a League Championship Series (ALCS and NLCS) preceding the World Series to determine which teams will advance, while those series have been preceded in turn by Division Series (ALDS and NLDS) since 1995, and Wild Card games or series in each league since 2012. Until 2002, home-field advantage in the World Series alternated from year to year between the AL and NL. From 2003 to 2016, home-field advantage was given to the league that won that year's All-Star Game. Starting in 2017, home-field advantage was awarded to the league champion team with the better regular-season win-loss record.
