See images. Fantastic book. About the book >.>.> The reminiscences and anecdotes in Close to Glory were contributed by the writers, artists,… and photographers who served on YANK magazine in WWII. They also came from original correspondence exchanged between the editor, Joe McCarthy, and overseas press correspondents during the war. Many of these letters, cables, and V-mail were recently dis- covered in a trunk in the basement of the home of Dennis McCarthy, the son of Joe, and were made available to the editor by his widow, Mary McCarthy. These sources plus the con- tents of personal diaries and notebooks comprise this fresh, new record of the war.
