The author hunted numerous tigers in Assam both on foot and machansi, also leopard, wild boar, bear etc. On one occasion trailing a wounded tiger only to be charged and mauled by the tiger, though he succeeded in killing the tiger he had extensive injuries causing his and arm to be amputated.
