Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. COMPILATION OF WORKS OF ART UNITED STATES CAPITAL HOUSE DOCUMENT No. 362 1965. I am very pleased to offer for your consideration a particularly well-preserved copy of this important book about: Compilation of Works of Art and Other Objects in the United States Capitol, prepared by the Architect of the Capitol under the Direction of the Joint Committee on the Library. This large hard cover book (8 ¼ x 10 ½ inches, 427 pages) was printed by US Government Printing Office, Washington, 1965 at the behest of the 88th Congress, and is identified as House Document No. 362. This book is bound in dark navy-blue cloth, simulated to look like leather, with gilt titles on the cover and a lovely red & gilt title panel on the spine. As would be expected, this catalog is very well illustrated; I did not count them but would estimate that the List of Illustrations runs to close to 500 figures, all in b&w. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are bright and glossy although there are some white residue and a very small patch of finish loss where it was touching a painted wall (?). The title panel on the spine is bright and very attractive, reminiscent of a high-end leather book (please see the photos). Inside, there is a former owner s name embossed on the front endpaper but this is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages and many figures are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
