Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: VG-. First Thus. After years of censorship & much uproar about this book in Europe in the late 1920s, it was published in the US in 1930, but only in a much-abridged version. The present volume represents the Original Unexpurgated Edition of this classic work of erotica & English class society, representing the Third Manuscript Version orig. published in Italy in 1928 (First, Thus). Published in 1959 by the Grove Press (noted purveyors of censored books), it contains a lengthy & informative Introduction by Mark Schorer & Preface by Archibald Macleish. Octavo has beige cloth over quarter blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering. Condition is VG+: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning, unmarked save for shadows of pencil erasures to front endpapers. Mild fading to top edges, slight corner bumping. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $6.00 price on front flap) is VG-, marred by spine fading & light spotting, a few short tears & creasing to top edge of rear & bottom edge of front cover near spine; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
